In this class, you'll create a beautifully tailored shirt while learning garment construction techniques such as darts, collars, button plackets, sleeves, cuffs, and professional finishing methods. Whether you choose the sleeveless or long-sleeve version, you'll leave with a versatile wardrobe staple and the confidence to tackle future garment projects.

This class is best suited for confident beginners and intermediate sewists who are comfortable using a sewing machine and are ready to expand their garment sewing skills.

• Butterick B6842 Pattern

Fabric & Notions
• 2–3 yards woven cotton, cotton lawn, shirting, linen, rayon, or lightweight blend (refer to pattern envelope for exact yardage)

• Matching all-purpose thread

• Buttons as required by pattern

• Lightweight fusible interfacing (amount required by pattern)

Sewing Supplies
• Sewing machine in good working order

• Sewing machine manual

• Universal sewing needle (80/12)

• Fabric scissors

• Pins or clips

• Measuring tape

• Seam ripper

• Fabric marking tool (chalk or washable marker)

Before Class
• Prewash and press fabric.

• Purchase and bring pattern.

• Bring all required notions listed on the pattern envelope.

• If instructed by the teacher, cut out pattern pieces prior to class.
