Create a pair of stylish, comfortable pants or shorts you'll love to wear! In this garment sewing class, you'll make the Pietra Pants & Shorts by Closet Core Patterns—a modern wardrobe staple featuring a flattering flat front, comfortable elastic back waistband, slanted pockets, and your choice of wide-leg, tapered-leg, cropped pants, or shorts.

Perfect for confident beginners and intermediate sewists, this class will teach essential garment construction techniques while building your confidence in apparel sewing.

In This Class You'll Learn:

• Reading and following a commercial sewing pattern

• Taking measurements and choosing the correct size

• Cutting fabric accurately

• Sewing slanted pockets

• Applying interfacing

• Constructing a flat front with an elastic back waistband

• Creating clean, professional seam finishes

• Garment pressing and finishing techniques

By the end of class, you'll leave with a beautifully finished pair of custom Pietra Pants or Shorts and the skills to confidently sew more garments at home.

Supply List: 

• Pietra Pants & Shorts Pattern by Closet Core

• Fashion fabric recommended by the pattern (linen, chambray, lightweight denim, twill, rayon challis, Tencel, viscose, or other light- to medium-weight woven fabrics)

• Matching polyester thread

• 2" wide elastic (1 yard)

• ¼ yard lightweight non-stretch fusible interfacing

• Sewing machine

• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter

• Pins or sewing clips

• Measuring tape

• Iron and ironing board

• Fabric marking pen or tailor's chalk

• Seam ripper

• Hand sewing needle

Please bring your fabric pre-washed and pressed before class. If you would like to cut out your pattern before class, you're welcome to do so, or we'll guide you through the process during class. The Pietra pattern is rated for confident beginners and features a high-waisted flat front with an elastic back, hidden waist stay, slanted pockets, and multiple leg options.
