A 4-patch kaleidoscope quilt made by stacking 4 fabric repeats, cutting them into squares, and creating 4- sided kaleidoscopes. Then, it becomes a matter of color-play and design, ultimately creating a beautiful and unique quilt.
Fabric Requirements:
DO NOT prewash fabric, this will negatively impact the
ability to align the fabric repeats.
Choose fabric with large, bold prints. You will need a
total of 4 repeats of the fabric’s design element.
Generally, this is about 3 yards.
Additional fabric requirements:
-1 yard of fabric for sashing
- 2 yards of fabric for border
We will be using an AccuCutter die cutter for cutting
the squares
-Cutting mat
- 24” ruler
- Rotary cutter with fresh blade, able to cut
through 4 layers of fabric
- Flat-head pins
- At least 50 cheap paper plates, for organizing
and laying out kaleidoscopes
- Design wall, felt, or flannel sheet (recommend
72”x 72”)
- Pins
- Numbered pins or masking tape with a pen to
number your columns
- Sewing machine with ¼” foot
